Twitter confirms its working on an edit button
Twitter finally confirm that they are working on the edit button, but first, it will go through a testing phase with premium users.
This confirmation comes after the tweet of Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Twitter’s largest shareholder made a headline for polling his follower about the addition of an edit button.
The results of the polling are as expected, the overwhelming response in the favour of edit button.

On past Monday Tesla CEO Elon Musk is appointed to Twitter’s Board of Directors after buying a 9.2% share of the Twitter stock.
Now his position may allow him to wield influence over the inclusion of new features. However, Twitter states that they are working on this feature since last year.
Before rolling out for everyone twitter will first test the edit button with its Twitter blue premium subscribers.
Twitter blue labs allow the company to experiment while providing additional value to the premium members.
While testing Twitter can determine how to implement an edit button that minimizes the negative impact on the user experience.
There are several variables to consider, such as:
- How long will users have to edit a tweet?
- How many times can a tweet be edited?
- How will other users know when a tweet has been edited?
This announcement creates an argument against allowing users to edit their past year’s tweets.
This could be the possibility in the upcoming Twitter updates:
- A five-minute window where a newly published tweet can be edited.
- When you edit your tweet the edited word/sentence could be in strikethrough.
- It can show edited history like Facebook.
